“Sheridan Academy has given me a purpose in life. Before coming to this school I did not know what to do with my life. I had bad grades in public school therefore, I did not consider myself a student. I gradually increased my working ethics. Sheridan teachers did not just place me somewhere I was not ready to be. One thing that I will carry on in my life is their teaching method. We teach ourselves to learn and we can put this to use in everyday situations. The environment at school is not stressful, which is unlike others schools I have been to. We come to this school to learn and not to have a popularity contest. My peers are not only the people I spend all day with but they have also become part of my enlarged family. I feel very comfortable with them knowing that we are all here for the same thing, improvement. I am on my second year here and have found myself yearning to learn and enjoying school. My favorite subjects right now are English and Literature taught by Mrs. McVey and Mr. Welker. We get to do hands on projects while reading and doing creative writing. I hope that Sheridan Academy will give hope to many other students in the future and create an intelligent future generation. “

My name is Anh Tran. I am an international student from Vietnam. At the time of this testimony, I am a senior at Sheridan Academy. I have been to Boise since the beginning of the year. I remember when I got to Boise; I saw Amy and Greg were at the airport waiting for me. Greg was holding the sign that says: “Welcome Ahn.” Greg spelt my name wrong. I like to tease him about it sometimes, just for fun though.
I have learned so much sine I started school at Sheridan. I did not have to do Literature in a big, thick book. Instead, I read three other books that I have really enjoyed and understood. In addition, I found the US Government class very uninteresting because I learned so much about America, the Constitution, and a lot more. At Sheridan, I was not only learning knowledge in books but also knowledge about life and the world.
The best think about Sheridan is that I always got help when I needed it. The teachers are very good and professional. They helped me so much this year in order for me to achieve much knowledge and moreover, I achieved my goal: getting to college. I think Sheridan is a great school where students can learn much, work hard, but also have fun. What I have learned this year can be used in college and even later in life. I will never forget this eventful year studying at Sheridan Academy.
