Who are Sheridan Academy’s Students? We serve a range of students who are either unsuccessful or unmotivated in the traditional school setting, such as students who are: · Gifted, talented and unchallenged by the pace in large classes · Struggling in specific subjects, but grade level or beyond in others · International students who can benefit from a personalized ESL program · Challenged with mild learning disabilities such as dyslexia, ADHD, mild autism, or Dysgraphia · Uncomfortable with the social pressures in a large school environment · Home schooled and need specific subject coverage
The typical Sheridan student has an average or above average IQ level, but has not experienced success in his or her school setting due to a variety of challenges. One exception, Sheridan does not accept students who have been diagnosed with a behavioral disorder and does not offer a therapeutic component. |

“I had bad grades in public school” “Sheridan Academy has given me a purpose in life. Before coming to this school I did not know what to do with my life. I had bad grades in public school therefore; I did not consider myself a student. I gradually increased my working ethics (at Sheridan). Sheridan teachers did not just place me somewhere I was not ready to be. One thing that I will carry on in my life is their teaching method. We teach ourselves to learn and we can put this to use in everyday situations. The environment at school is not stressful, which is unlike others schools I have been to. We come to this school to learn and not to have a popularity contest…. I hope that Sheridan Academy will give hope to many other students in the future.”

“I learned so much about America” “I have learned so much since I started school at Sheridan. I did not have to do Literature in a big, thick book. Instead, I read three other books that I have really enjoyed and understood. In addition, I found the U.S. Government class very interesting because I learned so much about America, the Constitution, and a lot more. At Sheridan, I was not only learning knowledge in books but also knowledge about life and the world. The best think about Sheridan is that I always got help when I needed it…They helped me so much this year to achieve my goal: getting to college. I think Sheridan is a great school where students can learn a lot, work hard, but also have fun.”
