Sheridan Academy Private School

Inspiring students to achieve their full potential.

Academics

Small Group Instruction

Class sizes are at most 12 students per teacher, most often less ensuring targeted help and interventions.   Sheridan has served up to 40 students in a semester.  This creates a close knit community where students feel safe and included.

Individualized Curriculum

Students learn in different ways using different skills and abilities. When a student is enrolled, Sheridan Academy administers two standardized tests (math and reading.) Based on these test results, an individualized curriculum is created. It is not uncommon to have an 8th grade student reading at college level, yet struggling with basic math. The NWAC commended Sheridan Academy “for the establishment of a challenging and rigorous curriculum for all students and the attention provided for students to ensure mastery of academic content.”

Sheridan can design a custom curriculum that may include dual enrollment in local public schools for athletics and electives or with Boise State University to accelerate a student’s education with college credits.

College Preparatory

Many students have joined Sheridan with the goal of simply completing high school, but after the Sheridan experience, they set their goals higher.  Sheridan Academy seeks to inspire enthusiasm and commitment to education and lifelong learning.

Our curriculum meets the admissions standards of most colleges and universities.  Students are prepared and encouraged to take the ACT and/or SAT.

Life & Work Skills

Beyond academics, Sheridan Academy teaches social skills, manners and respect.  Sheridan Academy is a place where students are expected to be dependable, responsible, polite and work hard.  Students are rewarded when they do well, and expected to do the work over if they don’t.  Sheridan provides clear boundaries, logical consequences and positive reinforcement.    This business-like approach prepares students for success at a university and in the workforce.

Cultural Diversity

Sheridan embraces students from the Treasure Valley and from all over the world.  The mix of cultures provides a learning opportunity for all students.  Our world is more connected today than ever, a global education or learning to work with people from around the world is a much needed skill.  Sheridan has been honored to educate students from China, Taiwan, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Germany, Norway, Mexico and Uzbekistan.

Especially for International Students

Sheridan prepares international students for the U.S. college system of education.  Emersion in U.S. culture and methods enable students to better define their educational goals and explore the options available through-out the United States.  Students are prepared to complete the TOEFL and encouraged to take the ACT and/or SAT.   Sheridan also offers ESL classes for international students.
